This is a comedy of errors and is quite entertaining, and in parts quite farcical. Of course there is loads of raunch action and plenty of spanking but also lots of laughs and love. My heart went out to Cheri because she was hurting so much when she thought that Michael did something that jeopardized their relationship. Then I wanted to shake her because she made some bad decisions. Reading the book was like a rollercoaster ride to me and I enjoyed every second of it.
The love scenes were steamy and the characters still have such a great chemistry. I like the fact that the author explores some of the physiological issues that age play raises. Arabella is a sweet character whose actions come from her heart and often land her in trouble. The captain is strict and stern, but caring and kind, and everything you'd want in a Dom.
The chief mate is a more jovial Dom and he takes over the care of the embittered Lily. With a whole cast of supporting characters, mystery, danger and suspense, the plot just blossoms into a rose of complexity that kept me turning pages and enjoyi Ruby Caine and Pippa Greathouse joined forces in this first book of the Conquered series. As I do like to read books from both authors I was delighted that they wrote together and I ended this book with a very happy and delighted sigh.
There is adventure, action, danger and also plenty of spankings. Most of all, I loved the lightheartedness and the humor that made me smile often while reading. I feel this is a successful start of a new series. This was a completely enjoyable book.
The mystery part of the story did not go where I expected, which was interesting, while the romance ended up as expected for the most part thank goodness! I loved stern Captain Smythe and mischievous Arabella. The women's drama and mystery made it quite fun to read as well.
